Earthquake in northern part of India

Some knowledge about the earthquake occurred in delhi:-

Union Earth Science Minister Harsh Vardhan said that the analysis of earthquakes in and around Delhi in the last 03 years showed a kind of undefined pattern in the frequency of earthquakes.

As India is a subcontinent, and it has sufferred one of the largest earthquakes in all around the world.

What happened in it :-

In that more than 60% of the area had shaked and it was on the seventh place on the earthquake intensity scale and prone to MMI intensity tremors.

In reality, it is already considered that the whole Himalayan belt is having earthquakes of more than 8.0 magnitude on Richter scale, in which Jammu and Kashmir is on high alert. This region is present on the border, where the tectonic plates of Europe, and Russia creates earthquakes due to the collision.

How 2019 shaked delhi and the northern part of India:-

In September 2019, at least moderate to moderate intensity earthquakes have been recorded in India till 24 September, of which approximately eight are in the Jammu and Kashmir region of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department of India, the epicenter of the earthquake was Pakistan at 4.31 pm on 24 September 2019, and it is 200 km away from Jammu. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km into the ground.

Some knowledge about faults :-

There are more than 66 active faults along the territorial boundary in India, for the Himalayan belt, spanning 2,400 km that are dissected by 15 major active faults. The Indo-Gangetic and Brahmaputra plain have 16 tectonically active faults, while peninsular India is marked with about 30 neo-tectonic faults. There are also some hidden defects that are not clearly identified.

Reason of Earthquake :-

An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault. When the stress on the edge overcomes, because of the friction, there is an earthquake that releases energy in waves that travel through the earth's crust and cause earthquakes. In California there are two plates - the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate.

Some do's and don'ts:-

Keep calm and reassure others. During the event, try to find the safest place which is an open space, and should be away from buildings. If you are inside of your house or office or somewhere similar to that then, take cover under a desk, table, bed or doorways and against inside walls and staircase. Stay away from glass doors, glass panes, windows or outside doors.
